Junior Section.

The Cricket section has a thriving junior membership, incorporating children from under 7's upwards to under 18's. We have a number of ECB-qualified coaches and Team Managers who try at all times to make the cricketing experience interesting, safe and fun.

We organise friendly matches for those children under 9 years of age and have representative teams in the Cheshire County, South Manchester and the Salford & District leagues for the older children. Each team has at least one qualified coach and a Team Manager. We are always on the lookout for new talent and we encourage both boys and girls to take up the game.

We operate strictly within the ECB guidelines for Child Protection, so you can be assured that your child will get the best level of attention whilst in our care.

We have teams at under 11, 13, 15 and 18 in league competitions. All teams play at least once a week and often twice, so there is no shortage of opportunity for them to progress.

We operate indoor coaching and nets from January at Parrs Wood Sports Centre on Sunday afternoons starting on the 10th of January, 2010. Those children under 11 on the 1st of September, 2009 are welcome to join us at 3.30, the sessions last 90 minutes, a fee of £2 per child is payable to cover the cost of hiring the hall. Under 15's and 13's take over at 5.00pm for a further 90 minutes. These sessions will run to April when we switch to outdoor coaching and nets at the Club. Monday night at 6.15 for 90 minutes for all children under 11 and Tuesday nights for the under 15's and 13's. Again each session costs £2 per child to attend.

Don't worry if your child does not have any equipment for coaching sessions, we have bags of it!! As long as they wear comfortable sports shoes, without spikes, we supply bats, balls, gloves, pads etc. Those children who play under 11 and older cricket will be using a hard ball so each should have their own abdominal protector for when they are batting.

Several of our juniors in the recent past have been good enough for us to promote them for Advanced and Centre of Excellence coaching with Cheshire in the winter. This has resulted in a number of them playing for the county. We can arrange more personalised one on one coaching for your child if you are interested.

We run a Cricket Junior's Committee and are planning to run several social events in 2010 to raise funds for further cricket training equipment. So, if your child would like an introduction to cricket in a safe, secure and fun environment, please feel free to contact us at the email address below to find out more. Everyone is welcome irrespective of age and experience – it is never too late to take up the game.
